Balochistan cabinet discusses western route, uplift projects

QUETTA:Complaining of being neglected in CPEC, a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Balochistan here vowed to present a firm stance of Provincial Government over western route of CPEC in Joint Work Group Session to be held in Islamabad to discuss preparations of next JCC.

The meeting chaired by Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan decided to present new development projects for Balochistan under China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Taking briefing on Provincial share in CPEC and preparations for next Joint Coordination Committee Session to be held in China, the cabinet members decided to present Government’s agenda to the Chinese officials for approval what they pledged for people of Balochistan.

The Cabinet members stressed upon four lined DI Khan-Zhob-Quetta Highway, Four Line Khuzdar Baseema Highway, Four Line Nokundi-Mashkail-Panjgur-Mand-Turbat-Gawadar Highway, Loralai-Musakhail-Tonsa Highway, Makran Transmission Line and Burj e Aziz Dam must be discussed in Joint Working Group Session.

In pretext of imparting direct relief to the ordinary man in Balochistan, the Provincial Cabinet has termed Mineral Zone, Fishing Zone, Industrial Zone and Food Processing imperative for economic sustainability of Balochistan.

Addressing the meeting, Jam Kamal said that incumbent provincial government has decided to induct alternative development projects against Pat Feeder Water Scheme and Quetta Mass Transit Train Project.

Government of Balochistan has announced to participate in JCC on condition if federal governments accept the demands of provincial government in joint working group.

The Cabinet unanimously blamed previous government over not raising Balochistan case properly and held them responsible for not gaining major development projects for Balochistan in CPEC. They vowed that the provincial government will utilize all efforts to get handsome share of CPEC for people of the province adding measure must be taken to take lucrative benefits from geopolitical location of Balochistan.

The Cabinet approved a bill declaring Education Department as mandatory services that would be imposed in the province after approval from Balochistan Assembly. Provincial Government claimed the bill has intention to discourage strikes in educational department and continue studies without any pause.

More than 1800 non-functional Primary Schools would be functionalized under the program while educational structure in 11432 Primary Schools would be revamped. The Provincial Government has decided to appoint two teachers in all primary schools that would impart job opportunities in Balochistan.

The Cabinet decided to allocate 15 million rupees for Balochistan Endowment Fund to help people living below the poverty line and also approved phase 2 for Chief Minister District Development Fund.

To control malnutrition in Balochistan among children the Provincial Government has approved nutrition emergency in Balochistan directing health department to prepare PC1 of the program. The Cabinet also approved amendments in Balochistan Rules of Business 2012 that would open doors for Members of Assembly to select as Parliamentary Secretary.

“Instead of high-cost and long-lingering development projects, the provincial government seeks to focus on short-period projects including Check-Dams, Water Treatment Plants, Kuchlak-Spezand Railway Track and Express2ays,” CM said while addressing the meeting which lasted for more than 11 hours.
