Bid to control Karachi: PPP announces province-wide demos

LARKANA:PPP has termed the federal government steps about Karachi as conspiracy to divide Sindh for which they have announced to hold a massive protest demonstrations in every district, town and village of the Sindh province.

This was announced by Sindh PPP Chief Nisar Ahmed Khuhro while addressing a press conference at local press club Friday. Khuhro said: “Sindh is our mother and mother of Pakistan as well. By separating Karachi, our head will be separated from our body and serious injuries will be inflicted on our body. No person will sit silent now.”

He invited all political and nationalist parties to sit together to protest on Sunday. He said it was time to remain united to face the attacks being made on Sindh. Khuhro said attacks were also made on Sindh previously in view of Kalabag Dam which was defeated through historic MRD-like movement.

He said again attack had been carried out on Sindh to divide it in the shape of controlling Karachi which would be resisted till last breath. He said Pakistan’s prime minister wanted to become Pakistan’s Gorbachev who intended to divide Sindh by conspiring to make a separate committee for Karachi.

The committee is filled with bias and discrimination which instead of cleaning Karachi has talked about giving Karachi under federal control. He said even road in Bani Galla was not constructed and other similar issues also persisted in other provinces then why committees were not constituted for resolving those issues.

Khuhro said ‘it is life and death issue for us to occupy Karachi’, adding it was a conspiracy to weaken the entire country. He said local bodies and Sindh government were working constitutionally and local bodies had all powers made by the SA.

“DMC Karachi is given budget of Rs 50 crore monthly and people of Karachi should ask those who are working there since years. They should also be asked about funds given to them during Musharraf era.” He said the federal government had no vision for people of Sindh and its other areas. He said due to shortage of funds, development pace had reduced considerably as proper share from NFC award had neither been given to Sindh nor it was enhanced.

He clarified that PPP Chairman did not shouted slogan of Sindhudesh, but narrated the tale of injustices with the province. He said rulers were talking about freedom of Kashmir but at the same time, they were conspiring to occupy Sindh. Khuhro said: “We believe in democracy. PPP’s Sindh Council meeting will soon be called to discuss this issue.
