Call to raise awareness about breast cancer

KARACHI:Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has said that construction of Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Karachi will provide the best treatment facilities to the people of province. Currently, 80 percent of patients are being provided free treatment facilities at the Shaukat Khanum Hospital.

He expressed these views in a Heavy Bike Rally organized by “Ride for Cause Pakistan” to create awareness about Breast Cancer and fund raising for Shaukat Khanum Hospital. The rally started from Sea View and concluded at Shaukat Khanum Hospital DHA Phase 7, with participation of more than 250 different types of heavy bikers in the rally.

Dr Sidra Zahra of Shaukat Khanum Hospital informed the participants about breast cancer prevention and treatment. Heavy bikers donated Rs. 2.5 million as well as a large number of people donated in the cause. The Governor on the occasion said that most donations to Shaukat Khanum are given from Karachi as compared to the whole country because the people have full trust in Shaukat Khanum.

He said that awareness about the breast cancer is very important. It can be cured if diagnosed at an early stage. Talking to media, the Governor said that making Karachi a safe city for the prevention of street crime is the need of the hour.

He said the government will provide full support to anyone who launches a garbage or cleaning campaign. Imran Ismail said that the responsibility of the mayor is to clean up the city and to lift the garbage. Responding to a question, the Governor said that the MQM is and will remain our ally.
