Chairman Water Commission visits Larkana

LARKANA: The Chairman, Water Commission, Justice (retd) Amir Hani Muslim, paid a surprise visit to under-construction oxidation ponds in Umrani village near Larkana on Sunday and directed Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) officials to accelerate the pace of work so that arsenic sewerage water of Larkana could be released in the ponds after treatment.

He directed the district government administration to plant more and more trees to improve environment. Justice Muslim visited Shahbaz disposal site located near Chandka bridge where he was briefed about the scheme by PHED Superintending Engineer Abdul Wahab Sahto. The Chairman expressed his anger when he found heaps of garbage lying un-lifted around the disposal and asked the Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) of Larkana Municipal Corporation (LMC) why garbage had not been removed.

He directed him to ensure maintenance of cleanliness everywhere. Later, he also visited disposal established at Nako No. 7 which was found closed. He inquired from the LMC officials about its closure and expressed his anger and dissatisfaction. CMO told him that due to frequent tripping and prolonged electricity load shedding, the disposal was closed. CMO further revealed that battery of the generator was also out of order due to which disposal was dysfunctional. Justice Hani ordered CMO to make the disposal functional immediately or stern action will be taken against him. Deputy Commissioner Syed Murtaza Shah, SSP Shabir Sethar and other relevant officers were present on the occasion.
