Chinese research center to be named after Prof Atta-ur-Rahman

KARACHI:The leading university of Chinese Medicine in Changsha, Hunan province has decided to name its new research center after Pakistan’s famous scientist and academician Prof Dr Atta-ur-Rahman.

Hunan University of Chinese Medicine planned to hold a grand opening ceremony of its new center namely “Academician Professor Atta-ur-Rahman One Belt One Road TCM Research Center” on the occasion of the “5th Annual Bio-TCM International Conference” during the 23rd to 25th October, 2019.

The senior official of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi (UoK) said on Monday that Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry had also been invited as the guest of honor at this special occasion.

It is pertinent to mention here that the largest University of Malaysia, Universiti Teknology Mara, UITM has already established a research center after the name of Prof Atta-ur-Rahman entitled “Atta-ur-Rahman Institute of Natural Product Discovery (AuRins)”

Currently, Prof Atta-ur-Rahman is serving as Chairman of Prime Minister’s Task Force on Science and Technology, Vice Chairman on Prime Minister’s Task Force on Technology Driven Knowledge Economy, and Co- Chairman, Task Force on Information Technology. However, he has also served the nation as federal minister for science and technology, and chairman higher education commission.
