(CITY): KE installs 136 low-cost meters through in Rasheedabad

KARACHI:,,, K-Electric said in a statement on Friday that it organized a customer facilitation camp in Surjani Town’s Rasheedabad area, to address billing related and other complaints of the residents.

More than 200 billing related issues were resolved on the spot, which was the basic purpose of the camp, while more than 50 customers were also facilitated in settlement of their dues through easier payment options, . In keeping with the vision behind Project Sarbulandi, and the provision of electricity to even the most remote areas of Karachi, 136 low-cost meters were also provided.

A medical camp was also set up alongside the camp where area residents were offered free medical checkups and advice. Approximately 170 residents of the impoverished and underdeveloped area availed this facility.

It is noteworthy that Rasheedabad has a very high rate of power-theft and the area is rife with life-threatening kundas. However, after engaging with community leaders, K-Electric has been working to remove kundas and plans to transform the areas distribution network with the installation of theft-resistant Aerial Bundled Cable, which is also much safer in densely populated areas. After the upgrade to ABC, not only will the power supply to the area become made more reliable, but this will also have a positive socio-economic impact.
