Controller General visits District Accounts Office Larkana

LARKANA: The Controller General of Pakistan Shagufta Khanum, along with her team members, including Director General (Admin) Umar Zafar Shaikh and Accountant General Sindh Farrukh Ahmed Hamidi, visited District Accounts Office here on Saturday, where they were briefed about the working of the accounts office of the district by District Accounts Officer Altaf Mangi, Additional District Accounts Officers Abdul Rauf Soomro and Abdul Hafeez.

She directed the DAO to immediately make payments to the government servants after completing legal formalities. She said that direct credit system must be introduced for making payment to the pensioners so that they should not face any difficulties at all as they have rendered their lives for the betterment of their relevant departments. She hoped that retired government servants’ cases will also be finalized on merit without any delay.

It must be mentioned here that so many cases of retired employees of education, health and other departments are pending at the DAO since last one year but they are not paid retirement benefits due to bottlenecks created by the employees of the DAO and even after the order of the apex court to make all payments to the employees on his last day of his/her government service.

No fixation of pay is made in the service book of the retired employees for which objections are also never communicated, cases of expired employees are also delayed for over 12 months and the heirs are asked to pay for the payment. These employees have urged the Controller General of Pakistan to order a thorough probe into the complaints and provide relief to these aged people so that their families should not suffer for negligence of others and they should not run from one place to another.
