Crackdown begins against Oxytocin injection sellers

LARKANA: A crackdown under the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan has been initiated today against Dairy Farm owners using injections allegedly for increasing milk production. In this connection, an inspection team under the supervision of Additional Registrar, Sindh High Court, Circuit Court, Larkana, headed by Shoaib Bhutto, conducted surprise raids in Ratodero and Naundero on Monday.

The team accompanied by police inspected several medical stores and cattle pens in both towns but remained unable to find the injection either being sold at medical stores or being used by cattle owners in their cattle pens. The cattle pen owners also informed the team members that they had already stopped usage of the injection after the apex court’s order.

In Naundero, the team conducted raids in Murad Colony, Khuhra Muhalla and other areas. The team directed all of them not to sale or use the injection Oxytocin otherwise FIRs will be registered against violators. The police station cops were also directed to lodge FIR against the violators of apex court directions and bring them to justice who are playing with the lives of the people.

Many of the dairy farm and medical store owners fled after locking their places when they came to know about the arrival of the team. It must be added here that buffalo and cow owners in rural areas and villages use this injection frequently which they consider enhances milk production due to which they earn more but are unaware of its hazards. The injection is very cheap and was easily available almost everywhere at shops not only medical stores.
