KARACHI:The demand of release and repatriation of Pakistani woman scientist Dr Aafia Siddiqui once again became the number one trend on Twitter.
Thousands of Aafia Movement Pakistan volunteers and other people took part in the trend Pakistan Awaits Aafia and it became the number one Twitter trend within few minutes.
This campaigning continued for many hours. More than 27000 people from whole world took part in the trend. They hoped that Prime Minister Imran Khan would prove a different ruler from the past rulers of Pakistan on the issue of Dr Aafia Siddiqui. They hoped that he would not forget the matter of Aafia Siddiqui during his coming visit the US.
However, a large number of people also appealed to the army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, and ISI DG Lt General Faiz Hameed to play their due role in the release of Dr Siddiqui.
Aafia Movement Pakistan leader and noted neurophysician of the country, Dr Fowzia Siddiqui thanked the supporters of Aafia Movement, citizens, as well as, civil society members for running a warm campaigning on social media for the release of Aafia. She hoped that the government would respect these public sentiments and the nation would hear good news about return of Aafia with the visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to the US.
