Democracy is the key to our enlightened future, says Bilawal

LARKANA:Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said democracy is the key to our enlightened future and democracy derives everything from the masses as they govern it. He stated this in his message on the International Democracy Day.

In Pakistan, the unanimously passed 1973 constitution is synonym to real democracy, he said. The PPP Chairman said that Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was second to Quaid-e-Azam who took revolutionary steps towards cementing the democratic system in the country and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto laid her life for democracy.

Bilawal said that the former President Asif Ali Zardari has been imprisoned because he took steps to promote the democratic vision of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

He said a government without true public mandate can never be considered as truely democratic one. PPP Chairman said that only a people’s elected government can take the country to the heights of glory and prosperity.

He pointed out that the governments led by PPP have a brilliant record of success on the political, social, economic and diplomatic fronts.

Bilawal said that no true democratic governments could misuse taxpayers’ money for suppressing their fundamental rights adding that true democratic governments never control the media, oppress the political process and victimisation of the political force of the country.

He said that rule of law in the country only begins with the practical steps towards the implementation and adherence to the constitution and the laws.

Bilawal said that expecting the people would follow the law is conditioned by the following of the laws by the rulers.

He saluted those who suffered and stood bravely for the sake of democracy and pledged to continue the struggle for the prevalence of Shaheed party leaders’ vision and strong democracy in the country.
