KARACHI: A diamond smuggler was apprehended by customs officials at Jinnah International Airport Karachi on Saturday for carrying diamonds worth more than Rs 6 million illegally.
Customs officials searched a suspicious bag of a passenger, MohammadJavaid, and recovered Rs 6 million diamonds for which he had not paid the applicable duty.
According to law, duty is imposed on carrying diamonds abroad in large quantities.
However, the man was trying to transport the precious diamonds secretly. The officials have registered a case against the suspect and started further investigation.
