Disability should not be considered as weakness: CM aide tells moot

KARACHI: Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Sadiq Ali Memon has said that disability should not be considered as weakness, but it is a blessing in disguise. Proper guidance and training may transform disabilities into ability and we are working with all stakeholders to empower all persons, who are suffering from disabilities.

This he said while inaugurating Fine Arts Competition at Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, here on Sunday. The event was organized by NGO the World of Art. On this occasion CEO Aliza Munim welcomed Sadiq Ali Memon. This event was celebrated with Fine Arts competition, in three categories. Menhdi Designing, painting and pot painting. Persons with hearing-loss installed stalls and exhibited their art work. Sadiq Ali Memon Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities appreciated the creativity of persons with disabilities and highlighted the work Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities is doing for persons with disabilities.

He was awarded by shield. He added, ‘ Such extra curriculum activities are a wonderful idea to bring out the potential of the persons with disabilities and they should also be encouraged to participate in such events to develop their confidence as well’. On this occasion Ghulam Nabi Nizamani, Director General, Sindh Persons with Disabilities Protection Authority said that very soon DEPD would start the registration of the organizations and institutions of persons with disabilities. He was also awarded with shield. Before inaugural ceremony both Special Assistant to Chief Minister and DG SPDPA visited stalls and art gallery.
