Dispenser cuts newborn’s thumb

LARKANA:The residents of village Mahi Bhutto held a protest demonstration against a private medical center authorities here Monday, alleging that they cut thumb of a newborn while administering Cannula.

The protesters, including father of newborn, Ghulam Qadir Solangi, Ghulam Hussain Solangi, and Jamil Ahmed Bhutto told newsmen that they brought their four-day-old baby at the private medical centre of Dr Abdul Hameed Shaikh where he was diagnosed as suffering from asthma.

They said the dispenser during administering cannula cut right hand side thumb of the newborn which they termed highhandedness and quackery. They said their kid was admitted to the centre since past three days and they were paying high costs of the treatment despite being severely hit by worst poverty to save precious life of our child.

They said that the owners of private medical centers were indeed butchers as they charged maximum rates but provided minimum facilities with illiterate dispensers who do not take care of the patients coming from far flung areas and paying all fees.

They said government hospitals had neither required medicines nor proper facilities while private medical centers were cutting parts of body then where should they take the poor patients. They urged the Sindh Health Care Commission authorities, DIGP and SSP Larkana to take notice of the matter and provide relief.
