Five gunned down in Kambar over bike snatching attempt

LARKANA: Five people of Chandio and Brohi communities were gunned down and two were injured in the limits of Drigh Police Station on Monday night in Kambar taluka over an issue of motorcycle snatching which also included a policeman.

The dead include Muhammad Alam Brohi, Nadir Brohi, Bhooral Brohi, Mashoque Chandio and Khalid Chandio. The injured included police head constable Imdad Ali Chandio and Naveed Brohi.

According to the police, a young man of the Brohi community was coming to his home when armed men waylaid him in Warah police station limits and snatched his bike, mobile phone and other valuables.

When the criminals fled another biker came there and the young man telephonically informed his community people using his cell phone who reached the spot and started following the footprints of the criminals which led them to a village of Chandio community located within the limits of Drigh police station. Police also reached the spot soon after. Chandio community people allegedly started firing in which three people of Brohi community were killed and two of Chandio community were gunned down.

SHO Inspector Abdul Salam Chandio of Drigh police station said that no FIR has so far been registered by either side. He said bodies were taken to Kambar Hospital which were handed over to the heirs after fulfillment of legal formalities and the injured were rushed to Chandka Medical College Hospital, Larkana, for treatment and further management. He said police have been deployed to stop further escalation of the dispute.
