Holding polls on time demanded

LAHORE:Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami and the MMA, and the acting chief of the Markazi Jamiat e Ahle Hadith, Allama Ali Muhammad Butrab, have stressed upon the Election Commission, the care taker government, the judiciary , state institutions, the media and the national leadership to firmly stand committed to holding the elections on the 25th of July.

Addressing a joint press conference, they warned that if there was any attempt from any quarter to flee the elections, the political leadership came to blows with one another and the elections became controversial, the entire political leadership would once again have to unite aboard one container after the polls.

The two leaders said that all the candidates except those of the MMA were violating the limit of election spending fixed by the ECP and if the ECP checked the publicity of these candidates , they would stand disqualified for life on this very ground.

They said that the allegations being levelled by different candidates against one another in their speeches and the foul language they were using were against the spirit of democracy.

The two leaders further said that controversial and partial elections would undermine the country solidarity.

Replying to a question, Liaqat Baloch said that the MMA too had reservations regarding the elections, as it felt that obstacles were being created for some people while some others were being undue facilities.

They said that the MMA would ensure the supremacy of the constitution through democratic process and parliamentary struggle.

Allama Ali Muhammad Butrab told the media on the occasion that the objective before the MMA was to enforce the Nizam e Mustafa and to build Pakistan as a real Islamic welfare state. He said that the candidates of the MMA were free from corruption and the nation should vote for them to bring about a revolution in the country.
