ibrary named after Dr Syed Adibul Hasan Rizvi opens near Moen-Jo-Daro

LARKANA: Dr Syed Adibul Hasan Rizvi, the founder of Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) on Tuesday inaugurated the library named after him in village Essa Hulio, near Moen-Jo-Daro.

This is a first kind of the library which has been set up by more than 200 like-minded people and friends, mostly graduates of Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad, small farmers, laborers and the platform named Coin the Education Movement (CTEM).

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Rizvi said: “There could have not been a better place to establish a library than the village near Moen-Jo-Daro, the place of birth of civilization which teaches us the value of education.” He drew attention to the drainage system which was thousands of years old at Moen-Jo-Daro including their knowledge of pottery making, bathing system, and drinking water wells.

He said the children are the custodians of the future, and imparting education through establishing libraries was the need of hour. He added that education and health were the birthright of individuals, which unfortunately were not met.

Agha Shakeel, the founding member of CTEM informed that more 200 friends, who believed in the need of enlightened education in Pakistan, had contributed to the library. The library is fully air-conditioned with a solar system. Agha also informed that many mentors, who were professional in their fields from university professors to artist and educationist, had given their consent to engage with the children digitally to educate them.

He appreciated the support of education department Sindh on behalf of villagers who were managing the library. Villagers are the force drivers of the library.

Nadeem Bhutto, another founding member of CTEM, said that it was a decade ago when a few friends envisioned the CTEM, which later turned into a movement and was joined by many friends, and the numbers were growing with the passage of time.
