KARACHI: Secretary Information Department Sindh Abdul Rashid Solangi said on Thursday that PROs posted with various ministers, advisors and departments are the eyes and ears of the government to curb negative propaganda against the government and the public.
He said this while presiding over an important meeting of public relations officers attached with various departments at his office here today. Director Press Information Muhammad Saleem Khan was also present on the occasion. An individual report on the professional responsibilities of the PROs was taken up in the meeting while the issues faced by the officers were also discussed.
He called for more efforts to highlight the performance of ministers and departments to the public and directed to use all resources in this regard. He said that he would personally meet the Secretaries of each department to ensure better publicity of public welfare schemes adding that Information department acts as a bridge between the government and the masses. In this context, the responsibilities of PROs are further enhanced.
He said that training and various refresher courses would be conducted to enhance the professionalism of the officers. The Secretary Information directed all PROs to submit their performance report after every 15 days to the Director Press Information. He warned all the officers that no one would be tolerated in the discharge of duties.
Abdul Rasheed Solangi assured that the departmental promotions and other issues would be resolved soon. The doors of his office are open for them. Deputy Director Faisal Zafar Farooqi, Fida Hussain Baladi, Abdul Majid Khan, Muhammad Imran Zunoon, Moinuddin, Information Officers Syed Saad Ali, Shakeel Dogar, Shabir Babar, Atif Wighio, Farhat Imtiaz, Jafar Panhwar, Sohail Jokhio, Abdul Shakoor and others were also present in the meeting.
