ISLAMABAD:In occupied Kashmir, Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani has urged each and every person, government officials, bureaucrats and police personnel to resist the naked Indian brutality with full determination till complete freedom from Indian occupation.
In a first official statement on Sunday, since the scrapping of special status of Jammu and Kashmir by India on August 5, Syed Ali Gilani said there is no other alternative but to fight.
He said if India brings its entire armed forces into occupied Jammu and Kashmir, even then the people of Kashmir will not abandon struggle for their rights and liberation.
The APHC chairman said, in spite of India’s all-out efforts, Kashmir issue is being highlighted throughout the world like never before.
He said it was a final golden opportunity for all sections to join the valiant struggle of Kashmiri people for complete freedom from India’s occupation.
He also urged the Kashmiri people living abroad to participate in the resistance struggle by acting as ambassadors of Kashmiri people all over the world.
Meanwhile, the authorities continued to impose strict curfew and other restrictions across the Kashmir valley on the 21st consecutive day, on Sunday.
However, people defied curfew at many places in Srinagar and elsewhere in the valley and protested against the Indian onslaught on Kashmir’s special status and imposition of Hindu culture.
The unprecedented blockade has caused acute shortage of essential commodities, including food and life-saving medicines.
Over 10,000 Kashmiris including hundreds of political leaders and workers have been detained. The authorities have put almost all Hurriyat leaders, including Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, under house arrest or in jails.
Illegally detained Kashmiri journalist, Aasif Sultan was granted the Press Freedom Award by American National Press Club.
He was arrested on 28th of August last year on fake charges and is still imprisoned in an Indian jail.
Media reports said that a 33-year-old Indian Civil Service officer, Kannan Gopinathan, has resigned from the government job stating that he was disturbed over the lockdown in Jammu and Kashmir.
In his resignation, he said there is denial of fundamental rights to tens of thousands of people in Kashmir for weeks.
