IOK: (Talks on Kashmir must be result-oriented: Mirwaiz)

ISLAMABAD: In Occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyet Forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, welcoming the UN Secretary General’s statement, has called for initiation of result-oriented dialogue on Kashmir dispute to pave the way for peace in the South Asia.

In a statement in Srinagar, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that Kashmir is a political and human issue, which cannot be resolved through the military might.

He said the Hurriyet Forum believes that there is a dire need for a result-oriented dialogue process to resolve the Kashmir dispute to pave the way for peace in the region and help in clearing the clouds of war and overcome the insecurity.

Meanwhile, hundreds of activists from different social organizations held a protest demonstration in Srinagar against the rape and murder of minor girl Asifa in Kathua district.

On the other hand, complete shutdown is being observed in Handwara, today (Thursday) to mark the martyrdom anniversary of victims of a deadly massacre in the town.

Seventeen innocent Kashmiris were martyred when Indian Border Security Force personnel had opened indiscriminate fire on peaceful demonstrators this day in 1990.
