JI decries ‘dry-cleaning’ of criminals

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chater Amir Engr Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has strongly deplored ‘dry-cleaning’ of criminals, saying patronizing crime for political gains is behind the worsening law and order situation in the city.

In a statement on Tuesday, the JI chief said that criminal elements have been flourishing in the megalopolis whereas apart from loss of life, a large number of people are deprived of their valuables on daily basis.

He said that after massive engagement of police personnel in protocol duties of VIPs, the citizens had thought that the Rangers would fill the vacuum but unfortunately all crimes except target-killings are still on rise.

Engr. Naeem also criticized some political parties for patronizing the criminal elements. He said that it was a matter of grave concern that criminal elements were being “dry-cleaned” after joining certain political parties.

He went on to say that patronizing criminal elements for political settlements was unacceptable. He added that the crimes of vehicles lifting, robberies and killings are on a rise, whereas the provincial government was only focusing on political appointments police bosses.

The JI leader charged that performance of police and Rangers in Karachi has become a question mark.

He warned that the JI would not accept the status-quo and would launch a protest movement. He appealed the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the prevailing situation in the city.
