JSMU to set up first aid camp for Ashura procession

KARACHI:Expanding its outreach services to emergency medical aid, Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) will provide first-aid on the route of main Ashura procession in the megacity this year.

In a meeting with Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Provincial Minister for Local Government, Religious Affairs, Forest and Wildlife Department, Housing and Town Planning, Vice Chancellor JSMU Prof SM Tariq Rafi extended the offer to provide the university ambulances, doctors and staff to respond to any emergency affecting the mourners in the biggest procession of Ashura that attracts participation from all over the city.

Minister appreciated the initiative and encouraged the university to increase its area of work for the benefit of the people. The Vice Chancellor also apprised the Minister about the University’s community service activities in rural Sindh where its Family Medicine Department is holding regular camps and initiating projects.
