JSQM stages big rally in Larkana against proposed dams

LARKANA:Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) took out a big rally in Larkana on Thursday against plan to construct Kalabagh and other dams and rehabilitation of aliens and issuing them CNICs.

Addressing the rally, JSQM chairman Sanan Qureshi said such conspiracies were also hatched in the past but were foiled because they thought they would be rendered in minority, hence, such conspiracies would never be tolerated.

He said: “Sindh is neither orphan nor it has been eaten by jackals. We, the owners of the land, are still alive to save it from intruders.” He appealed to human rights organizations worldwide to take notice of enforced disappearances in Sindh. He said they were followers of GM Syed and Shaheed Bashir Khan Qureshi and their peaceful struggle would continue to save Sindh and rights of its original inhabitants. He said Syed Jalal Mahmood Shah would lead the nationalists struggle and chalk out further line of action against the proposed construction of dams and rehabilitation of Burmese, Bengalis, Afghans, Biharis in Sindh and issuing CNICs to them.

JSQM Senior Vice President Amjad Mahesar said that their struggle had started against construction of what he termed notorious Kalabagh and other dams on Indus River and repatriation of Bengalis, Afghans and others which would spread to every town and village of Sindh very soon. He said: “JSQM condemns in strongest words such policies of the government which will turn Sindhi people into minority and make fertile lands dry and arid.”

He said Punjab had already sold its three river’s water and was continuously stealing Sindh’s water share; hence, it could not be relied upon at all. He said PPP ministers were saying that CNICs are made to Bengalis and Afghans so that they may come out of crimes but they have forgotten Sindh’s unemployed poverty-stricken youth who also need employment to live comfortably.

Niaz Kalani said that Punjab is having dispute with Sindh since long after it sold its water which is why they are engaged in a conspiracy to build dams over Indus River which will neither be tolerated nor allowed. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan is talking of making Madina-like state but can he get citizenship of Madina. He said people of Sindh condemn attack over Baloch nationalist leader Akhtar Jan Mengal.

Earlier large number of JSQM activists took out a rally which marched through various main roads and then reached Jinnah Bagh where they staged a massive sit-in and held protest. They were holding party flags in their hands and chanted slogans in favour of their demands.
