Karachi supports Kashmir, says mayor

Karachi:Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar has said Karachi has always supported the struggle of Kashmiri brethren and continue to do so.

He expressed these views while speaking to the Kashmir Solidarity Day program held in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Building on Monday.

Stressing the need of raising a strong voice for the Kashmiris, the City mayor said that the Government of Pakistan should ask its all diplomatic missions and embassies to highlight the gross human rights violations in the held Kashmir and inform the world about Indian atrocities on innocent Kahmiries.

The words of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammed Ali Jinnah citing the importance of Kashmir may be included in the policy and it should be implemented, he said, adding people in Karachi are with the Kashmiri brethren in their struggle for self-determination. He hoped that the Kashmir Issue would be resolved soon and the people of Kashmir get their birth right of freedom.

Kashmir Solidarity Day program held on the 5th February in KMC Building at M.A Jinnah Road was also addressed by Provincial Minister Sardar Ali Shah and Central spokesman for All Parties Hurriyat Conference Abdul Majeed Malik. Kashmiri leader Sardar Nazakat also addressed the program.

Later on a rally was also held outside the KMC Building at M.A Jinnah Road to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people.

Karachi Mayor welcomed the Kashmiri leaders in the KMC Head Office. He praised the voice for supporting the Kashmiris and condemning the atrocities of the Indian occupation army on the Kashmiri people.

Provincial minister Sardar Ali Shah said that they have always highlighted the Kashmir issue in assemblies. He advised India to accept the self-determination right of Kashmiri people and fulfill its promises made in the UNO.

All Parties Hurriyat Conference spokesman Abdul Majeed Malik said Kashmiri people should also be taken on board in the Kashmir Committee. He appreciated the spirit of the people in Karachi and said that any decision of Karachi is also the decision of Kashmiris.

He thanked all Pakistanis for supporting the Kashmiris in their struggle for self-determination and independence.

Sardar Nazakat said people of Karachi have given a lot of sacrifices in the struggle of Kashmiris, adding we, Kashmiris, want to say yet again that we will not surrender on this core issue. He said we are happy that Pakistan is providing us support to achieve our cause.
