KMC students hold protest in front of Bhutto House Naundero

LARKANA:The male and female students reached Naundero from Khairpur, demanding registration of Khairpur Medical College (KMC) with Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and availability of all required facilities in KMC and the attached hospital.

They staged a sit-in and held protest demonstration in front of Bhutto House which is hometown residence of former slain Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

They shouted slogans in favour of their demands holding large banners in their hands.

While talking to media Muhammad Owais Ansari, Daud Shah, Aijaz Metlo, Bilawal Arain, Kahdija Mahar, Rabia Shah and other student leaders said that they are protesting for acceptance of their just demands since past 11 days but Sindh Government is constantly ignoring them. They said Sindh Assembly had passed resolutions two times but still required facilities have not been provided to the KMC and attached Hospital and KMC has not yet been registered with PMDC despite the fact that their teams have visited the college four times. They said future of about 500 students is at stake since past five years due to non-registration of the college with PMDC.

They said they have been forced to come out here before the residence of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari so that our demands could reach him and he may order the concerned authorities to help resolve issues faced by our institutions. They said the KMC was established during the chief ministership of Syed Qaim Ali Shah but it is irony that neither building of the college nor the teaching faculty has been so far been completed. They further said that services of faculty and staff have not also been regularized. They alleged that there are no professors for anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and other subjects and there is no auditorium or playground in the college. They also demanded provision of MRI, CT scan and other latest instruments and equipment for diagnostic purpose. They said due to these shortcomings PMDC is reluctant to register college for which Sindh Government should only be blamed. They demanded fulfillment of all requirements so that college could be registered and recognized and poverty-stricken people could be provided maximum healthcare facilities.
