KARACHI:The fourth event of beach cleanup campaign of the University of Karachi would be held at Mubarak Village on January 26, 2019.
The in-charge Marine Reference Collection, KU, Dr Qadeer Mohammad Ali, mentioned that as part of an educational and social program, a series of events titled ‘beach cleanup campaign’ had been organized by the Marine Reference Collection and Resource Centre under Higher Education Commission’s Social Integration Outreach Program 2018.
He said that fourth event of the campaign would be held at Mubarak Village on Saturday, January 26. The campaign had been focusing on combating the problem of trash in coastal environment and would help in the awareness raising among general societal masses involving University’s students and local community in cleaning coastal areas of Karachi.
Ali further said: “It is a tangible activity that brings University’s students and local together to do something good towards conservation and rehabilitation of beaches which would result in a long term sustainable management.
The Marine Reference Collection and Resource Centre team has developed articrafts out of the beach trash material and participants will be trained on making such articrafts of daily use.”
