Lahore, other parts of Punjab hit by dense fog, cold-wave

LAHORE:Dense fog and cold wave hit Lahore, Multan, Okara and Sahiwal and other parts of Punjab on Sunday morning, causing problem to the drivers in running vehicles on major roads of the region.

The fog has reduced visibility to hundred meters in vast region. It also increased intensity of cold and affected traffic flow on roads. The social life has also been affected by the fog and cold weather. The minimum temperature in Lahore region fell to 6.6 degrees centigrade today.

The biting cold wave has gripped Lahore and its adjoining towns and villages since two days. The smog and cold have caused nose and throat irritations.

Mainly cold and dry weather is expected in all districts of Punjab province. Dense fog is likely to prevail tomorrow in plain areas of Punjab province during morning/night hours. Frost is also expected in few areas of northern Punjab.

Dry continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country. The smog has become a problem for some cities in Pakistan to industrial and transport pollution and burning of crop waste and other garbage.
