MBBS, BDS classes at Dow University to begin on Jan 6

KARACHI:MBBS and BDS classes at Dow University of Health Sciences will begin on January 6, 2020 as all arrangements in this regard have been finalized.

Addressing the Orientation Class in this regard, Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohammed Saeed Quraishy urged the students to focus on education with diligence and dedication and take part in extracurricular activities along with the curriculum as we aim to make you a good doctor and a better person as well.

The orientation was held at Moin Auditorium of Dow Medical College and was attended by the Principal DMC Prof. Amjad Siraj Memon, Registrar Dow University of Health Sciences Prof. Amanullah Abbasi, Vice Principal DMC Dr. Shumaila Khalid, senior faculty members, MBBS students and parents.

Quraishy said that Dow University of Health Sciences is the largest healthcare university of Pakistan which constitutes to five different medical colleges and Civil Hospital for house officers. He added that Dow Medical College had been established for 75 years, it was built and inaugurated by Sir Hugh Dow; you are lucky that you are a part of the best university of Pakistan in terms of healthcare sector. Addressing the students, he said that you will be encouraged at every opportunity, so that you can become a great medical professional. He added that it is our priority to build strong links between students, parents and the university, in case of any complaint you can contact the Principal Office directly. He expressed his best wishes to the students on this occasion and wished them success in the future.

On the occasion, Dow Medical College Principal Professor Amjad Siraj Memon said that today is unforgettable for newcomers and their parents as their children become part of the country’s best medical university, of course, there lies hard work and sacrifices of parents and students behind it. He said that a highly qualified and senior medical faculty at Dow University will help you become a professional and successful doctor. You will also be glad to know that you will be a student at one of the Top 500 Universities of the Asia. He added that the reason for the rapid development of the university is the vision of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mohammed Saeed Quraishy.

They told newcomers that they had a great digital library for research purposes, which students could make full use of it. He emphasized that the students should be punctual as the university expected 90 percent attendance from them. However, according to the PMDC rules, students with less than 75% attendance shall not be provided with admit cards. He further told the students that they also had a sports department, which helped the students in extracurricular activities. He said the reason to provide all these facilities was that they wanted to produce the best graduates and they had been doing this the past years as well.

Vice Principal of Dow Medical College, Dr. Shumaila Khalid said: “We are striving to provide the students with excellent medical education, and students or parents can contact us for any complaint or query. She said that MBBS students’ classes would begin on January 6, while Prof. Naheed informed the students about the syllabus of the course.
