MBBS girl student found dead from CMC hostel room

LARKANA: The body of a 4th year MBBS girl student of 46th Batch of Chandka Medical College (CMC) Larkana, Nausheen Bukhari, daughter of Hidayat Ali Shah, aged 22 years, was found hanging and dead in a ceiling fan on Wednesday in mysterious conditions in the limits of Rahmatpur police station.

On receipt of information, CMC administration, along with principal Prof. Gulzar Ahmed Shaikh, rushed to the spot, informed police which arrived and started investigation. Nobody was allowed by police to enter the hostel for collection of evidence.

Assistant Commissioner, Larkana, Ahmed Ali Soomro, also reached the spot and told newsmen that a letter written in English has been found kept on a table inside the room which was allegedly written by the Ms. Bukhari that she is committing suicide at her own.

SSP Imran Qureshi also reached the place of incident where he said a thorough probe will be made into the incident. He said police forensic experts have also been called to collect the evidence.

Meanwhile, a video has become viral on social media in which the body of the young medical student has been shown hanging in a ceiling fan with a rope around her neck but her feet were seen touching the table due to which experts presumed that suicide has become suspicious.

CMC students, who don’t want to be quoted, said that conditions of the CMC hostels are very tragic and unfit for medical students for which they have been staging protest demos but without any improvement. Nausheen Bukhari is the granddaughter (Dohti) of renowned Sindhi poet Ustad Bukhari. She returned to the college two days ago from her hometown Dadu.

Body was not brought to the mortuary till the filing of this report but reliable sources said that a committee will be constituted consisting of a forensic expert to conduct the autopsy to find the exact cause of death which will also include Woman Medical-Legal Officer and Chandka Medical College Hospital Police Surgeon. Sources further claimed that a case will be registered on arrival of the parents of the medical student.

It must also be mentioned here that the dead body of Dr. Nimrita Chandani, a final year BDS student, was also found in mysterious conditions from a hostel room on 16th September 2019 for which it was alleged that she has committed suicide but her final postmortem report contradicted the claim. This is the second tragic incident within over two years which created a lot of panic among the fellow students when the news broke.
