Media house attacks: ATC shows displeasure over absence of lawyers

KARACHI:An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday expressed annoyance over the absence of lawyers in hearing of two cases against Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leaders, pertaining to attacks on media houses on August 22, 2016 after hate speech of their party’s founder.

ATC judge conducted the hearing of the case and former lawmaker Dr Farooq Sattar and other accused appeared before it but the counsels of the accused were absent.

As the hearing started, the judge expressed anger over the absence of the lawyers and asked the accused if he is interested in continuing of proceedings of the case or not?’

The judge remarked three years have already passed but sometime the accused does not appear before the court and sometimes lawyers become absent. The court adjourned hearing of the case until 13th June.
