Moot urges regularizing prices of health service devilry

KARACHI:A meeting on regulation of prices of healthcare service delivery was held at Commissioner’s office Karachi on Wednesday.

The representatives of Private Hospitals and Clinics Association, Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) and Commissioner Office attended the meeting. Additional Commissioner Karachi Division Ghulam Murtaza Memon chaired the meeting.

The meeting was attended by a team of Private Hospital and Clinics Association comprising Dr S Junaid Ali Shah, President PHCA Dr Farhan Essa Abdullah, Dr Sadia Rizvi CEO South City Hospital, Dr Sami, Nusrat Faheem, Administrator AO Clinic and team of Sindh Healthcare Commission

The health department representatives could not attend it. The participants were informed about mandate of SHCC towards regulation of prices of healthcare service delivery.

Additional Commissioner Karachi Ghulam Murtaza Memon stressed the need for price regulation so as to provide relief to common man. SHCC CEO Dr Minhaj Qidwai proposed to adopt some rational policy regarding healthcare service delivery so that these services could become affordable for all.

The PHCA representatives shared the challenges being faced. On this occasion, Qidwai recommended formation of the pricing committee comprising all stakeholders and categorization of hospitals taking into account different variables.

The meeting concluded with the note that PHCA would share its views within a two-week time. The next meeting will be held in the last week of July to continue the deliberations.
