No let up yet as AIDS cases jump to 445 in Ratodero

LARKANA:As many as 11,068 people from general population have so far been screened out of which 445 have been detected HIV positive in Ratodero, its surrounding and nearby villages.

These cases include five detected by PPHI. Out of these 445 cases, 89 are adults and 356 children. On Monday as many as 1984 people were screened at Ratodero Taluka Hospital camp out of which over 52 were found infected with the dreaded viral disease.

One screening camp was also organized at Miskhan Brohi village where 202 people were screened out of which 48 were males, 31 females and 123 children and only one case was detected HIV positive.

Another camp was also established at Tayab village where 200 people were screened which included 45 males, 36 females and 119 children but fortunately none was detected HIV positive.

Meanwhile, Paeds HIV ward is expected to be inaugurated by provincial health minister Tuesday at Children Hospital of Chandka Medical College Hospital, Larkana, consisting of three rooms which have been snatched from OPD Block which will create lot of the problems for the patients of over eight districts who arrive here daily to get specialized medical treatment for their kids as this is the only hospital in entire Larkana division for children where post-graduate doctors are posted to work.

People from Balochistan, Dadu and other districts also reach here for getting treatment and over three children are accommodated on single bed due to rush.
