LARKANA: A media team visited three government schools of Dokri taluka near Moenjo Daro on Monday, where it found one school closed and two without basic facilities of water and electricity.

These schools include Government Girls Primary School of village Gaji Dero which was found locked due to the dangerous condition of the building. Government Middle Boys School and Government Primary School of village Saindad Junejo were without water and electricity facilities.

A villager, Akbar Channo, and a teacher, Bashir Ahmed Khokhar, told media that girls school of their village Gaji Dero was closed seven years back owing to its dilapidated condition while the education of children had been badly affected. They said that they had visited education department officers in Larkana several times and also sent applications to higher authorities, but no action had so far been taken.

The villagers said that they had also informed their MPA and Sindh Home Minister Suhail Anwer Siyal and MNA Nazir Bughio about the issue and appealed to them to repair the school building.
