ISLAMABAD:According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, 49% Pakistanis think that the abolishment of interest based lending will improve economic situation in the country; 26% believe that this action will further deteriorate the financial situation.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “In your opinion would the economic condition improve in the country if the system of interest is abolished from Pakistan?
”In response to this question, 49% said it will improve, 26% said it will deteriorate, 22% said no change while 3% did not know or respond to the question.
The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.
The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1450 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, October 29 – November 05, 2018. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
