PDP expresses sympathy over Japan typhoon losses

Karachi:Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed deep concern and sympathy over huge losses of the typhoon Hagibis that had hit hard Tokyo and other areas.

In a letter sent to Kuninori Matsuda, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, PDP Chairman Altaf Shakoor said: I on behalf of myself, my political party Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) and people of Pakistan hereby express heart-felt condolence over the loss of precious lives in Typhoon Hagibis and our serious concern over extensive loss to property.

He said we feel the pain of the victims’ families and sufferings of survivors and want to express deepest sympathy to them. We also salute the government, volunteer agencies and brave people of Japan who are doing their best to provide efficient rescue and relief to the affected people. We, people in Pakistan, pray for the departed souls and wish an early rehabilitation of the affected areas, concludes the letter.

The heavy typhoon unleashed widespread flooding and left at least 42 people dead and many other missing in Japan. Typhoon Hagibis, which means “speed” in the Philippine language Tagalog, tore through Tokyo and large swaths of Japan’s main island of Honshu on Saturday, bringing record-breaking rains to many areas.

More than 20 rivers in central and northeastern Japan had burst their banks, flooding more than 1,000 homes in cities, towns and villages.
