PM: (PM launches Waseela-e-Taleem Expansion Program)

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that no development can take place without development of human resource.

He said this while speaking at a launching ceremony of expansion programme of Waseela-e-Taleem under Benazir Income Support Programme here on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister said the programme is being expanded to fifty districts of the country. He said the programme is reflection of the Government’s commitment to provide education to all.

He said poverty alleviation is also not possible without universalization of education. He pointed out that education also guards against extremism and terrorism.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the government needs to do more for education. He emphasized the need for quality education.

The Prime Minister said expansion of Waseela-e-Taleem programme would ensure enrolment of one million more children in schools.

He said BISP is a non-political programme as it cuts across the political divide and provincial boundaries and directed at poorest of the poor.

Addressing the ceremony, Chairperson BISP Marvi Memon said the BISP is being taken forward as per the vision of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. She said the present government has enhanced BISP budget from forty billion to one hundred and twenty one billion rupees.

Secretary BISP Omar Hamid Khan said five point four million deserving families are benefiting from the income support program. He said the plan is to expand Waseela-e-Taleem program to every district of the country.

The country director World Bank said we stand ready to help the income support program which has made an impact on the lives of the poor people.

He said the program shows the determination of the government to help the underprivileged segments of the society.
