PM (Prime Minister directs bureaucracy to do every work on merit)

Lahore:Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the bureaucracy to do every work on merit and fulfill the responsibility of serving the masses. He was chairing a meeting of provincial bureaucracy and senior police officers in Lahore on Saturday.

Referring to the improvement in economy, the Prime Minister stressed that a capable bureaucracy has an important role for economic development of the country. He said appointments in bureaucracy and other posts have been made on merit and PTI government has freed the officers from any political interference. The Prime Minister said there is a need to improve governance and law and order in Punjab province.

He said we have to change the old mindset in Naya Pakistan as the old system can no longer work. Imran Khan said efforts should be expedited to bring improvement in the lives of poor people. The Prime Minister said the police department enjoys legal authority but this power should only be used to serve the masses and bring improvement in the lives of the people.

The meeting was attended amongst others by Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, Special Assistants to the Prime Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan, Syed Zulfiqar Bukhari, Barrister Shahzad Akbar, the Chief Secretary Punjab and Inspector General of Punjab police.
