Protection demanded for lady lawyer of Larkana

Larkana: Pasban e Pakistan has demanded justice for a lady advocate of Larkana, who faces domestic violence and grave life threats.

According to details, Pasban Sindh senior leader Arshid Arain and a lady advocate Reema held a press conference in the Larkana Press Club here Tuesday and expressed grave concerns over domestic violence on Advocate Reema.

Arshid Arain appealed to the chief justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan and chief justice of Sindh high court, inspector general of police and government of Sindh to provide safety to Advocate Reema who is allegedly getting threats from her husband Shahid, a principal of a local college and his accomplices and take action against the perpetrators of domestic violence.

On the occasion, Pasban leader Muneer Ahmed Rind, Pasban Minorities Wing Vice President Dr Sham Lal and Advocate Nadia Ashraf Chan were also present.

Arshid Arain claimed that Advocate Reema, daughter of retired police officer and ex-librarian Shaheed Benazir Bhutto College Larkana, Abdul Kareem Samitio, resident of Gharib Muqam Muhalla had married Shahid, who was older than her. He said in the Haq e Mahr five tola of gold and taking care of a minor daughter of Reema from her previous husband, Aleeha Fatima, was agreed upon.

However, after the marriage these conditions were not fulfilled. Shahid also allegedly began physical torture on Reema and her daughter due to which one eye of Reema was damaged.

Pasban leader said when the domestic violence further increased; Reema Advocate filed a suit for Khula on October 23. After this her husband became hurled grave threats to her. He also got filed a fake FIR of kidnapping a child against an uncle of Reema, Adeeb Riaz Hussain Larik, which the court declared as B Class.

He said on January 11, 2018, on behest of the accused, more than fifteen masked armed men barged into the house of Reema Advocate and beat up Reema, her elder mother and sister and snatched their cell phones. Moreover, a brother of Reema, Pervaiz Samitio was kidnapped and illegally detained at some undisclosed place.

The Pasban leaders said that the local police was informed about these incidents, but it is not taking any action. They said that the culprits are giving life threats to Pervaiz and asking him to get the Khula suit withdrawn.

They said the Reema and her family face threats of life and property. They appealed to the chief justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan and chief justice of Sindh high court, inspector general of police and government of Sindh to provide safety to Advocate Reema and his family members. They also demanded to initiate a probe against the accused, who they claimed, is also allegedly involved in corruption, bungling and other wrongdoings.
