Protest camp set up against load shedding in Naundero; one faints

NAUNDERO:The members of Shahri Action Committee (SAC) continued their protest for the 7th consecutive day here on Monday against power outage in Naundero town amid scorching heatwave that fainted a boy. The city sizzled at 43 degrees centigrade amid power load shedding, making life of people miserable during the holy month of Ramazan.

The protesters burnt effigy of Sepco Executive Engineer (Rural), Mushtaque Burdi, and chanted slogans against his failure in putting the entire town on single feeder, ending prolonged electricity outage, replacing burnt transformers and withdrawing extra detection bills.

The protesters sat at a protest camp outside the office of SDO, Sepco here where they continued their demonstration. One fasting citizen Insaf Jakhro fainted due to hot weather and was shifted to Rural Health Center for treatment.

No elected representative has so far contacted them to call off the demonstration. SAC leaders Ghulam Hyder Narejo, Javed Bhutto, Salim Channa and others said while speaking to media that no talks had been held by Sepco authorities as yet and the relevant officers were consistently avoiding their justified demands.

They said XEN Burdi had promised that city feeder-1 would be made free of load shedding within one week but despite passage of seven days, he had failed to honor his commitment which proved that they were not serious in resolving the issue. They said their protest would continue till solution to their issue.
