Protesting teachers demand six-year salaries

KARACHI: Teachers action committee held a protest demonstration outside Karachi Press Club on Saturday for payment of their pending six-year salaries.

Speaking on the occasion, committee leader Sardar Abdul Hakeem said that they were hired by previous education department Sindh, headed by the then education minister, Pir Mazharul Haq, but the government was reluctant to pay their outstanding salaries since 2012, which was a great injustice.

“Salaries are being paid to all other districts of Sindh, except five districts including Karachi, Ghotki, Sukkur, Shahdadpur and Sanghar,” he said.

He said that Sindh government had hired those teachers but was not paying salaries. He demanded immediate payment of the salaries to the teachers.
