Protestors block Superhighway, demand probe against Rao Anwar

KARACHI: A sit-in was staged by different political, social activists including civil society members and human rights organisations on Friday against alleged fake encounter in which a Waziristan youth, Naqeeb Mehsood, was killed in Karachi’s Malir area.

A large number of people including workers of Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led by PTI Sindh president Arif Alvi, Haleem Adil Sheikh, Imran Ismail, Firdous Shamim Naqvi, and other, besides civil society members, and Jamaat e Islami leaders and workers reached the Superhighway and staged a sit-in against alleged extra-judicial murder of Naqeeb Mahsood by SSP Malir Rao Anwar.

Speaking on the occasion, Arif Alvi charged that Rao had also killed many other men in past in Karachi after arresting them. Judicial inquiry should be conducted against him, he demanded. He said that they did not believe in Sindh police’s inquiry committee.

Haleem Adil Shrikh said that they have video clipping of Ibrahim Hyderi school incident but Rao Anwar presented the incident in a wrong colour. He demanded to dole out justice to victim’s family as soon as possible.

The protestors chanted slogans against Rao Anwar and demanded to sack him. However, due to the protest, all sorts of traffic came to standstill on the Superhighway. The protest was continued when filing this news.
