PTI demands registration of murder cases against Rao Anwar, his team

KARACHI: Suspension of ‘encounter specialist’ Rao Anwar was not enough and the government should lodge murder cases against him and his team so that justice could be doled out to the bereaved families whose loved ones were killed in ‘fake encounters’.

This was said by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Haleem Adil Sheikh here on Saturday while addressing a protest rally held against the extra-judicial killing of Naqeebullah Mahsud. The rally marched from Dawood Chowrangi to the DC Office Quaidabad in which the angry protesters chanted slogans against the government and suspended SSP Malir.

Shaikh said that the suspension of Rao Anwar was not solution to the issue of fake encounters. He said the protest would continue till the registration of murder cases against Rao Anwar. He said that besides Naqeeb, many other innocent people had been killed by the police officer in fake police encounters. He said the stains of the blood of these innocent people could also taint the Sindh government.

The PTI leader said if the Sindh government wanted to save itself from the allegations of patronizing fake police encounters, the murder cases should be lodged against Rao Anwar and his team to dole out justice to the affected families.

“Naqeeb was an innocent and was arrested from his shop and was later killed in a fake encounter. Not only Naqeeb but many other innocent people were also killed by Rao Anwar in the same fashion. The encounter specialist should be made accountable for his crimes,” he demanded.

The PTI leader demanded immediate arrest of Rao Anwar and others involved in the fake encounters to take them to the task as per law.
