Punjab CM lays foundation stone of Baba Guru Nanak University

LAHORE:Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar today visited Nankana Sahib district where he was warmly received by federal interior minister Brig. (R) Ijaz Shah, assembly members and the district administration.

He inaugurated the first TDCP motel of Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab which has been completed with the cost of Rs13 crore to help promote religious tourism in the district. He also planted a sapling and expressed the satisfaction that the new facility will provide the best facilities to Sikh pilgrims and other tourists. Punjab government is providing best facilities to the Sikh community at their religious places under a policy of religious harmony, he added.

Buzdar also laid the foundation stone of Baba Guru Nanak University which is first of its kind in the province. This university will comprise of 10 acres of land and will be completed with an amount of Rs. six billion. This university is an important step towards completion of Prime Minister’s promises and would help lakhs of students of Nankana Sahib district and other adjoining areas.

The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of project of repair and maintenance of entry roads of the district which will be completed with an amount of Rs. 15 crores. Pir Ahmed Shah road will be dualized and Gurdawara Tanboo Sahib to Gurdwara Janam Asthaan via Dholaar Chowk will be repaired and Larri Adda road will be expanded. Similarly, link road connecting the Guru Nanak University to Nankana-Warburton road will be constructed as well. The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of construction of Shah Kot tehsil complex project which will be completed with a cost of Rs.11 crore. Federal interior minister Ijaz Shah hosted a luncheon in honor of Punjab Chief Minister which was attended by assembly members and local notables. In his address to the gathering, Usman Buzdar said that development of all the areas will be ensured and added that neglected districts like Nankana Sahib will be brought at par with developed cities.

Establishment of Baba Guru Nanak University in Nankana Sahib is part of Prime Minister’s vision, he said. Development schemes for Nankana Sahib and other districts will be continued. The repair and construction of roads will help to increase the opportunities of development and prosperity of the people, he added. Ijaz Shah thanked the Chief Minister for his visit.
