Quddus, cabinet members take oath

QUETTA: Abdul Quddus Bizenjo took oath of office at a simple but impressive ceremony at Governor House here Saturday. Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai administered oath of office.

Speaker Balochistan Assembly Ms Rahila Durrani, Members provincial assembly, leaders of various political parties, Chief Secretary, IG Police Balochistan and senior civil officers were also present.

It was followed by oath taking of provincial cabinet. As many as 14 members took oath. They included Tahir Mahmood Khan, Sarfraz Bugti, Sarfraz Domki, Nawab Changez Marri, Rahat Bibi Jamali, Abdul Majid Abro, Asim Kurd Galloo, Aamir Rind, Ghulam Dastgir Badini, Muhammad Akbar Askani, Jaffar Mandokhel, Syed Agha Raza, Manzoor Kakar and Prince Ahmed Ali. Their portfolios would be announced later.

Earlier Quddus polled 41 votes against 13 of his rival Agha Liaqat Ali of PMAP. Former Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri had tendered resignation prior to consideration of no trust against him in provincial assembly on January 9. After his resignation Sarfraz Bugti (PML-N) and majority members of House announced support in his favour.

Overall 54 votes were cast in a House of 65 today. Of these Quddus Bizenjo got 41 votes and 13 by PMAP MPA Agha Ali Agha. Another candidate Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal from PMAP had earlier withdrew his candidature in support to Agha Liaqat Ali.

It is added here that Quddus Bizenjo had polled 544 votes from District Awaran during 2013 elections. Only 1.18 percent votes were cast.
