Relief goods distributed among 1855 quake affectees

HARNAI:A meeting to review measures adopted for the rehabilitation of earthquake affectees of District Harnai of Balochistan province was held here on Tuesday with Balach Aziz, Commissioner, Sibbi Division in the chair.

Appreciating the role played by Pak-Army, Frontier Corps (FC), Balochistan and district administration in rescue and relief operations, it was highlighted that phase-wise rehabilitation process of the earthquake affectees was in progress in order to save precious human lives and properties in short-term phase while in the mid-term phase, provision of healthcare facilities, edible items and safe havens for the affectees would be ensured.

The meeting was apprised that all basic facilities were being provided to the people of affected areas, adding relief goods, including tents, blankets, quilts and plastic mats, had been distributed amongst 1855 affected families of District Harnai. The meeting was informed that rehabilitation of earthquake affectees would be ensured in the long-term phase.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Harnai, Suhail Anwar Hashmi, representatives of Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Pak-Army, Frontier Corps (FC), Balochistan and other authorities.

Meanwhile, Abdul Hakeem Baloch, former Chief Secretary Balochistan and former chairman, Baloch Students Organization (BSO) passed away. He was the father of Mir Shemazar, Mir Saadat, Sehak Baloch and Murad Baloch. He was scheduled be laid to rest today in Gurumkan area of Panjgur.
