Scrutiny of nomination papers for Provincial seats of Senate underway

ISLAMABAD: Scrutiny of nomination papers for Provincial seats of Senate is in progress.

The Election Commission has received thirty-four nomination papers from Punjab, eight from Islamabad, thirty-four from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, twenty-eight from Balochistan and forty-nine from Sindh, and nine from FATA.

In Islamabad, Returning Officer Zafar Iqbal is holding the scrutiny process in the presence of candidates and their representatives.

In Karachi, Pakistan Peoples Party candidates for technocrats and for woman seats were present before Returning Officer Muhammad Yousuf Khattak for scrutiny of nomination papers.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani and other party leaders accompanied the candidates.

According to Election Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, scrutiny of nomination papers of twenty candidates for seven general seats was completed today, while scrutiny of nomination papers for six technocrat seats was completed yesterday.

Scrutiny of nomination papers for contesting Senate elections on two women seats is in progress. Polling for the Senate elections will be held March 3.
