SEPCO vows to recover Rs30bn stuck up dues in next drive

LARKANA:Rs 26 billion are outstanding against general public of Larkana Division and Rs 4 billion are outstanding against government departments. He said it had been decided to recover the amount for which soon a drive will be launched and their electricity supply would be disconnected.

Stern action will be taken against electricity thieves throughout Larkana Circle, said Superintending Engineer, Sepco, Larkana Circle, Muhammad Khan Sohu, Tuesday while talking to media in Larkana. He said power theft FIRs had been lodged against 125 people at 36 different police stations and action against 52 Sepco employees had been taken and one employee had been shown the door for their involvement in theft.

Sohu said that 197 feeders were working in the Larkana division out of which 30 feeders had been made free of load shedding after hectic efforts against theft. He said 19000 illegal Kunda connections had been removed from the division and 5500 new latest meters installed. He said as many as 56 new transformers had been approved for the entire Larkana division so that consumers could be able to get smooth electricity supply.

He said during last month, 10 crore rupees were recovered. He said out 335,000 consumers, 190,000 were paying the bills timely. He said even Miro Khan had been made free of load shedding. He said anti-theft teams would even work during night time and detect electricity theft. He asked the consumers to get meters for uninterrupted power supply or face the consequences.
