Seven of a family killed in inferno near Muzaffargarh

MUZAFFARGARH: Seven members of a family, including four children, were killed in a fire that broke out in a house in Pir Jahanian area of Muzaffargarh on Sunday.

According to police and rescue sources, the fire broke out in a house in Pir Jahanian area of Muzaffargarh when inmates were asleep. As a result, seven members of a family were burnt to death.

The deceased were identified as Muhammad Nawaz,65, Khursheed Mai,35, Fouzia Mai,19, Shah Nawaz,12, Sarfaraz,10, Yaqub,2, and a minor. The cause of the blaze could not be ascertained yet.

The bodies were shifted to DHQ Hospital for medico-legal formalities. No case could be lodged till filing this report. However, police have started an investigation into the incident.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has expressed concern over the tragic incident in the fire and directed local administration to furnish a report of the incident. He also directed officials to conduct an investigation into the fire incident.
