KARACHI:Chief Justice Sindh High Court (SHC) Ahmed Ali Shaikh on Tuesday expressed displeasure on the absence of counsels of petitioners in a case pertaining to the illegal allotment of 198 plots against Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chairman Mustafa Kamal and others.
A SHC bench, headed by Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Shaikh, heard the bail pleas of the accused persons. At the outset of the hearing, junior lawyer submitted with the bench that as Iftikhar Qaimkhani’s counsel is sick so further time may be given for arguments.
At which, Chief Justice showed anger at the absence of lawyers and remarked: ‘Do you think that we do not understand such tricks?
‘’On next hearing, we will not listen any kind of excuse and bail would be dismissed if any lawyer or accused is not present”, the bench warned.
The court, later, adjourned the hearing till 1st October.
On June 22, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed a reference against Kamal and others regarding the alleged illegal allotment of around 5,500 square yards of commercial land to Bahria Town for a multi-storey building.
Other suspects named in the reference include Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) Director General Iftikhar Qaimkhani, Fazlur Rehman, Mumtaz Haider, Muhammad Yaqoob, Muhammad Irfan, Muhammad Rafiq, Nazeer Zardari and Muhammad Daud.
