SHC issues show cause notice to FIA IO for absence

KARACHI:Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday issued a show cause notice to the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Investigation Officer (IO) for his absence in the court pertaining to a plea seeking a bail in a money laundering case.

The court heard the bail plea filed by Taha Raza, but the FIA IO once again failed to submit a reply. The court directed him to appear during the next hearing and submit a reply on the plea.

Shaukat Hayat, the counsel of the applicant, told the court that his client was in the prison since six months and was not getting care in there.

Raza, appointed on an important post in a private bank, was accused of playing an important role in Benami Accounts and is in Landhi jail.

The court, later, adjourned the hearing till 22 January 2019.
