KARACHI: The much awaited Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC), an autonomous regulatory authority to ensure quality of healthcare in Sindh province, has been launched in the province.
Chairperson Sindh Health Care Commission (SHCC) Prof Dr Tipu Sultan said long-awaited SHCC has been launched in Sindh province.
He informed that the commission is a regulatory authority formed by Sindh Health Department to register and monitor public & private hospitals and eliminate quackery from the province.
He said the aim of launching Sindh Health Care Commission is provide quality healthcare facilities to citizens of Sindh province and get rid of quackery. He said all private hospitals, clinics, maternity homes, blood banks and laboratories in the province would be registered.
The key responsibilities of Sindh Health Care Commission are to advocate & create awareness about Sindh Services Delivers Standards(SSDS), register all e primary, secondary & tertiary care health establishments (HCEs), evaluate the implementation of SSDS, issue provisional licenses to the HCEs who follows the standards, research the implementation of SSDS in HCEs and for maintenance & continuous improvement of quality care.
The formal launching ceremony of Sindh Health Care Commission which was scheduled in a local hotel was postponed as Provincial Minister Sindh Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani and his wife were found dead at their home in Karachi. The new date for ‘formal’ launching will be announced soon.
